Family History Collection

This is a collection of family histories and pictures. I wanted to get all of my information in one place to make it easier to find, and to share whatever information I have with any one else related to these ancestors.

I have already been contacted by so many people, it has been exciting to meet long lost cousins and share our family histories and stories. If you have any more information, pictures, or stories on any of these families please contact me, I would love to hear from you!

Wow Shelley!

This will be nice to have at the touch of a button! Whenever I'm looking for geneology it takes me forever to find where I've put it. Thanks for all of your hard work.

Hey Shelley,
I would like to start on my personal history, do you have any recommendations on how to get it started and what not?

Shelley said...

Peggy, on my blog page I put some links that can help you get started on writing your own personal history. I like to type mine in microsoft word because it is really easy to edit and spell check. I started with the year I was born and told about my parents and grandparents. Then added pictures to it. Make a "chapter" for each year of your life.

Thanks for putting those links on your site Shell. I'm excited to start this. I'm just nervous about how much time it's going to take! I guess it's just one step at a time though.

Shelley you little geneology guru!!! This site is quite impressive. I feel a little guilty reading it cause I'm sure it took you many long hours of blood sweat and tears. Then I just pop in and read with just the click of a mouse. Thanks for sharing all your hard work!!!

We just learned by reading your article that William Webster was adopted and raised by the Turners. Thank you so much for posting this article. And thanks for the Turners for raising him.
The story of the Turners includes the story of the early life of William. What a treasure to add this story to our family history.
If you have any additional information about William and his parents, we'd certainly love to read it. If not, thank you so much for this.

Hi Shelley!

How exciting! I just found your blog and discovered more information about some of my ancestors.

I'm your first cousin, once removed. Your mother is my first cousin and your grandmother is my Aunt Elva! My mother is Sadie Kartchner. She passed away last August 24, 2008, in Clovis, California.

I'd love to hear from you!

Best regards,

Sheila Bower Adams

I am searching for information about James Lewis and Sarah McCoy. I live in just 30 miles outside of Nauvoo, Illinois. I have some research papers on this family that I got from Arlene Meservy and I am considering driving down to Troy, MO, and wonder if you have any suggestions as where to start and what to look for. Here is my email address:
maryloissnow@msn.com

I am a descendant of Nancy Bean and Zechariah Decker. By the way, Nancy had a second husband before Zechariah. His name was John D. Lee. She had one daughter by him before being granted a divorce by Brigham Young. The daughter's name was Cornilia.

Sheila, I'm so glad you found this blog, I talked to my mom and she said to tell you hi! I was wondering if you have any good stories about your grandpa Kartchner that you could share with me? My mom didn't see him very often growing up, but she said you lived pretty close to him in California, so I thought you might know some stories that we havn't heard yet? It was fun hearing from you, keep in touch! Shelley

Marylois, I'm sorry I can't be of much help to you in the search for James Lewis and Sarah McCoy- I wish I knew more about them too; I would love to go to Missouri with you and help you look! Have you tried looking in the old city records? Or searching the libraries where they were from? Please keep me updated and let me know if you find anything! thanks, Shelley

Hi there!

I think I posted a comment somewhere else on your blog too.

My husband's 4th great grandfather (I think...lost count) was Lowell Hall who is Betsy Hall Clough's brother. We have been thrilled to come across this LDS connection. My fil joined the church years ago thinking he was the first in his family - little did he know!!

Great information. Fun to learn about how Betsy and David crossed the plains. We NEVER thought we'd EVER find such a connection. Very exciting!

SAH-It's so good to hear from you! I'm happy that you found this blog and were able to make the connection-That is amazing that your father in law comes through one of Betsy's brothers! Do you have any family histories of the Hall Family? I would love to read them if you do!
